Transition to adulthood starts in New Jersey at age 14, but it is recommended that parents prepare and inform themselves about the process well in advance.
MTFODL & the Middletown BOE are hosting a Half Day Transition Conference to be held at Middletown High School South on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 8:30-12:30. The conference planning committee includes MTFODL, Middletown Student Services, TRFODL, The Arc of Monmouth, POAC and the Family Resource Network. The NJ DOE Office of Special Education Programs is sponsoring our student advocate speakers.
This conference is designed for students with 504 plans, IEP and learning differences. Our Keynote speaker is Jennifer Joyce, Director of Transition Services for DDD/DCF followed by a student speaker.
Following the keynote there will be breakout sessions covering a variety of topics for college and/or vocational interests.
Also offered are workshops for students 14 and over to focus on self-advocacy. (MUST BE REGISTERED)
There will also be resource and information tables
There are a limited number of tickets available, this workshop will be offered to all parents in Monmouth County so please register early.

Attached is the form letter and reading log for the Read to Succeed program.
It just started yesterday and the students will have until 2/23/2015 to complete it.
With that, everyone should be able to do the 6 hours given they have 4 months and 2 long breaks to get it done.
